Armistice Day falls on November 11 each year and commemorates the ceasefire amongst the Allies and Germany in 1918, ending fighting on the Western Front and marking a major step toward peace near the end of World War I. November 11 also happens to be Veteran's Day. This piece represents a different way to celebrate and respect veterans: striving for peace and ending the necessity for so many to experience such horror. The soldier featured is facing away from planes and weapons, looking toward a brighter future of peace that is reflected in his goggles. The elements of violence are depicted in faded black and white, while elements of peace are highlighted with a bright, hopeful teal.
